Biohazard & Gross Filth Cleaning New Mexico

Biohazard and Gross Filth Cleaning in New Mexico

Technician in protective suit and respirator cleaning animal filth

Past a certain point a house stops being untidy and becomes unsafe. Waste, rot and infestation put a property on the wrong side of that line, and it becomes a health matter rather than a cleaning one.

What This Covers

Animal waste soaked through carpet and padding into subfloor, with ammonia strong enough to make a room unbreathable.

Sewage and human waste, whether from failed plumbing, a septic problem, or a bathroom that stopped working some time ago. Genuine disease exposure.

Food and refuse sealed in a kitchen for months, which in New Mexico heat becomes serious quickly.

Rodent droppings and nesting, which here deserve their own paragraph.

Mould, less common in this climate but still found in swamp-cooler homes and anywhere with a slow leak.

Rodents Are The Real Hazard Here

This is the part New Mexicans should read twice.

Deer mice in this state carry hantavirus, and New Mexico reports cases most years. Infection comes from breathing dust stirred up from droppings and nesting material, which is exactly what happens when somebody starts shifting boxes in a cluttered rural garage or shed.

Sweeping and vacuuming are the worst things you can do, because both put the particles into the air. The correct method is to wet the material down first, use proper respiratory protection, and never dry-sweep it.

Plague and rabies also exist in this state, in a way they simply do not in most of the country. We are not saying this to frighten anybody into hiring us. We are saying it because people clean out rural properties here every week without knowing any of it.

If your property is rural, has been empty, or has droppings anywhere in it, please let us assess it before you start. The assessment is free.

How We Work

Protective equipment matched to what is actually present, respirators where air quality demands them. Contaminated material leaves first, because that is where both the risk and the smell live. Carpet and padding almost always. Subfloor and lower wall material sometimes.

Hard surfaces are then cleaned and disinfected, the air is treated, and the worst surfaces get sealed so nothing works its way back out months later. Everything contaminated is bagged, labelled and disposed of under New Mexico regulation, with records kept.

Why Odor Comes Back For Other Companies

Because smell lives in materials, not in air. Padding, subfloor, plaster, cushions and insulation absorb it and release it slowly for years. Spraying or painting changes nothing, because the source has not moved.

Take out the source, clean and disinfect, treat the air, seal what needs sealing. That is the entire difference between a smell that goes and a smell that pauses for two weeks.

Swamp Coolers

Worth its own note, since most of the country does not have these. Evaporative coolers push moisture into a house all summer, and in a cluttered home with no airflow that moisture settles into stacked cardboard and fabric against exterior walls. It is the one place we reliably find mould in an otherwise dry state.
